When we launched Laundry Sauce, most people laughed at us.
“These guys are gonna sell fancy laundry detergent online?”
There were some haters. Critics always have something to say when you try to disrupt a boring industry. They told us the playbook was already written. They said nobody cared about their laundry routine. They thought selling high-end fragrance in a laundry pod was a joke.
But critics do not know sh*t.
We started with a wild idea to make laundry day the best day of the week. E-commerce was our launch pad to dethrone Big Detergent. We brought better scents, better packaging, and better vibes to a category that had been asleep for decades.
Now, we are proving the doubters wrong on every front. From AI algorithms to physical retail shelves, the market is validating exactly what we set out to build.
Here is what I have learned about staying laser-focused, ignoring the noise, and building an 8-figure brand that actually moves the needle.
Obsession Earns Trust
You know you have built something legit when even the robots are name-dropping you.
ChatGPT now recommends Laundry Sauce as the best-smelling laundry pods.
That did not happen by accident. It happened because we made a decision early on to focus on one single thing. We set out to make the world’s best-smelling laundry essentials.
We are not the cheapest by a long shot. We are not the most multi-functional. We refused to make some 37-in-1 miracle pod that cleans your clothes, washes your dishes, and exfoliates your skin.
We made a choice to have an obsessive commitment to two things. Smelling irresistible and cleaning stains.
From sourcing premium fragrances to working with world-class perfumers, every single detail is intentional. We leaned hard into our core competency. When you stay laser-focused, you earn trust with your customers. And apparently, you earn trust with AI too.
Having an AI model recommend your physical product is wild. But think about how LLMs work. They scrape the internet for consensus. They look at reviews, articles, and customer sentiment. That recommendation is a direct reflection of the brand equity we built in the real world. You cannot hack that. You have to actually build a superior product.
Building a brand today means standing for something specific. If you try to be everything to everyone, you end up being nothing to anyone. We decided to own the premium fragrance lane in laundry care. We are not here to blend in with the detergent industry. We are here to change it forever.
The Anatomy of a 10 Out of 10 Experience
That relentless focus on excellence shows up in everything we make. Any detergent can clean your clothes. But at Laundry Sauce, we want more. We want to make the experience a perfect 10 out of 10.
Let me give you a real example of what that looks like behind the scenes.
We just dropped a limited release called Mojave Peach. Yes, it smells unreal. It might actually be our best fragrance yet. But the scent is only half the story.
This launch was over a year in the making. We did not just bottle a new fragrance and throw it up on Shopify. We built a full campaign experience. We invested time, cash, and a lot of late-night group texts into every part of this release.
The visuals required a heavy financial investment. We wanted to create a next-level visual experience that stops you in your tracks.
The copy was completely rewritten. We debated it internally and dialed it in to the very last word.
The packaging features a custom color. It is elevated and looks entirely unlike anything else you will ever see in the laundry category.
It is a product of focusing on the smallest of details. That is just the way we like it.
Building a product people actually care about means doing the hard work that does not scale. It means sweating the details on a limited release just as hard as you do on your core product line.
Moving From Clicks to Bricks
Our e-commerce success gave us the momentum we needed. But we are not stopping there.
The internet’s favorite laundry detergent is finally hitting store shelves.
We are on a mission to be in every single laundry room in America. Retail is the next step in that journey.
We recently packed up and headed to the Dallas Home & Gift Trade Show. We posted up in the Cliff Price & Co. showroom to get our product into the hands of real buyers.
The response was incredible. On day one alone, we signed up more than 30 retailers.
Not bad for a brand that started with a crazy idea to sell premium laundry pods on the internet.
Moving from DTC into retail is a whole new beast. You have to adapt. But you do not have to compromise your brand soul. Buyers at these trade shows see hundreds of products a day. They are numb to generic pitches. When they saw our custom packaging and smelled our world-class fragrances, the conversation changed immediately. Product excellence translates across every single channel.
Pretty soon, you will find our core scents like Australian Sandalwood and Italian Bergamot in your favorite local retail boutique. We are taking the exact same obsession with quality that helped us win online and bringing it to physical retail.
This is how you build a real business. You start with a specific niche. You dominate it online. You build an absolute cult following by obsessing over the details. Then you expand your footprint.
If you are a founder building something right now, keep going. Ignore the people who laugh at your vision. Stay scrappy. Stay hungry. Put your head down and build a product that cannot be ignored.
The playbook is yours to write.
