Why I Refuse to Sacrifice My Family for Business Growth

Building a business is chaotic, but your home life shouldn't be. Here are the routine non-negotiables I use to stay present and protect my family.

Running a business is hard. Raising a family is harder. Doing both at the same time? That is where the real reps come in.

Building a company like Laundry Sauce is chaotic. The problems do not stop when the clock strikes five. There is always another fire to put out. There is always another metric to track. The daily demands of operating an 8-figure business can easily consume every waking hour if you let them.

The default playbook for entrepreneurs says you have to sacrifice your personal life to win in business. You hear people bragging about sleeping under their desks. They wear burnout like a badge of honor. Their businesses grow, but their relationships fall apart.

That playbook is cooked.

I refuse to accept a version of success that comes at the cost of my family. My personal mission is clear. I want to be a patient and loving husband, father, and business partner. I want to spend quality, present time daily with my family. I want to build a financially abundant future for us, but I want to actually enjoy the adventure together.

You do not need to choose one or the other. But you do need a routine that honors both.

Over the years, I have found a few routine non-negotiables that keep me sane and present. Even when life at Laundry Sauce is spinning fast, these commitments keep my feet on the ground.

Bookends of Faith

I start and end my day with prayer. These are the bookends of my day.

When you are building a fast-growing business, it is easy to get a big head. It is easy to think everything relies on your own strength. Prayer strips that away. It reminds me who is actually in charge.

When God gets my first and last thoughts, everything seems better.

Morning prayer sets my posture for the day. It centers my focus on serving others. It gives me the patience I need to lead my team and support my family. Night prayer lets me release the stress of the day. I do not carry the chaos into my sleep. I hand it over to God.

You cannot lead a company or a family well if you are running on empty spiritual fuel.

Marriage is a Discipline

Date night is always on the calendar. We do it weekly.

If you want your business to grow, you track it. You set meetings. You measure progress. You dedicate focused time to it. Your marriage deserves the exact same level of respect.

Being intentional in marriage is not a luxury. It is a discipline.

You cannot wait for the perfect time to connect with your spouse. The perfect time does not exist. You have to carve it out and defend it. When date night is on the calendar, everything else moves around it.

And romance should not just be for anniversaries and holidays. Bring home flowers for no reason. Show up for your partner on a random Tuesday. Ashley and I are building this life together. Her goals are my goals. If I am crushing it at work but failing at home, I am failing completely.

Empowering Mom to Recharge

Being a mom is demanding. It is relentless. My job is to make sure my wife has the space she needs to breathe.

I actively encourage my wife to take girls trips. I want her to get away. I want her to unplug from the daily demands of running a household and raising kids. Everyone wins when Mom comes home recharged.

You have to support your spouse and their need for rest.

That carries into our weekly routine too. Saturday mornings with the kid are my responsibility. Mom gets a break.

The goal here is simple. I want my wife to recharge. While she rests, I get dedicated one-on-one time with my daughter. We hang out. We play. We build memories. It is not babysitting. It is parenting. And it is one of the best parts of my week.

Paying the Price Early

I wake up early AF to train and work before they are up.

This is the tactical piece that makes the evenings work. If I wait until 8 AM to start my day, I am playing catch-up. The emails pile up. The workouts get skipped. The stress builds.

By waking up before the sun, I get my physical training done. I get a head start on getting shit done for Laundry Sauce. I tackle the hardest tasks while the house is quiet.

There is a massive payoff to this discipline. Because I front-load the hard work in the morning, I can actually shut the laptop in the evening.

When I am with my family at night, I want to be fully present. I do not want to be half-listening to my kids while scrolling through my phone.

I wake up early so I can shut the laptop and wrestle before bedtime without distractions. Kids do not just want your time. They want your undivided attention.

Commitments, Not Hacks

The internet is full of people looking for the next great productivity hack.

These routines are not hacks. They are commitments.

They are commitments to my marriage. They are commitments to my kids. They are commitments to a standard of excellence that spans across my entire life, not just my P&L.

Building a massive business is a great goal. But it is empty if you are sitting at the top by yourself.

You do not have to choose between crushing it in business and being a great parent. You just have to be willing to do the work in both arenas. Put down the phone. Prioritize your spouse. Put God first. Do the reps.

Thank you for making life so sweet, Ashley.
